Mental Health

My name is Heather Taylor and I love people. I have a desire to offer support and encouragement to people struggling with uncomfortable feelings, emotions, and behaviors. I have had the goal of serving in the mental health field for many years and am so excited to join the Snohomish Apothecary and Wellness Center to serve the area that I live in.

I began my education at Bastyr University, a naturopathic college, that taught me a holistic or “whole-person” approach to mental health treatment. I then moved over to Northwest University to earn my master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling. My education helped shape my belief that a person must address all aspects of their being - body, soul and spirit - in order to have balance and manage their health. If one area is suffering or neglected, the other areas are also affected. I want to help my clients identify where there may be imbalance so they can correct and strengthen all aspects of who they are.

My approach to treatment is to come alongside the individual and allow them to steer their own journey to wellness. As we collaborate on what goals the client would like to accomplish, I will use treatments that include narrative (talk) therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (changing unhealthy perceptions), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (changing focus and behavior practices) along with Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), and Lifespan Integration for settling trauma and issues of the past. I am solution-focused and will offer other alternative remedies like supplements, aromatherapy, exercise, relaxation, and lifestyle coaching with the support of other experts here at the wellness center.

My goal is to work my way out of a job and treat clients with respect and compassion until they feel strong enough to discontinue therapy. I want to empower people to see their full potential and live their best lives full of joy, peace, love and purpose.
